Trampolines get a bit of bad press, we have one in the garden and every time the kids go crazy on it we have the same discussion. How good or bad is it really? No question they absolutely love it and it's good for balance, coordination, improves posture and it's a good workout in the fresh air.
But we still stick to a couple of rules to avoid accidents and long term damage:
- We do not let them jump unsupervised.
- When bigger kids join in they have to jump on the level of the smallest. Otherwise they have to sit on the padding on the side and take turns...
- No jumping in the net - they get a wrong sense of security.
I love watching them jump and squeal with delight and I figure if you put your kids in a car on a daily basis... how big a risk can a trampoline be?
