I read today that a lower UTI is one of the most common bacterial infections in young children. Girls and babies still in nappies are especially prone to getting it, but there are things you can do to prevent it. Changing nappies often and keeping a clean bum. With girls always clean front to back. Anything that's wet, underpants, bathing suits should be changed asap. Also kids should drink a lot of water or unsweetened tea, which flushes out any bacteria. With young children it's often helpful to collect a urine sample at home in a clean jar to take to the doctors if you suspect a UTI. If you catch them early, often they can be treated without antibiotics.
