Sticky plasters are great but very annoying when they don't come back off! I get the ones for sensitive skin or specific kids brands for our girls, as they are generally easier to remove. I always make sure it's big enough to cover the whole wound with the pad only. Taking them off quickly close to the skin generally hurts less (only if it's not stuck to the wound). I wash my hands before putting on any dressings and try not to touch the wound. Plasters should be kept an eye on and changed if they are dirty, as it can be a breeding ground for bacteria. For smaller wounds I find spray plasters are a good alternative. I try plasters on myself first before giving them to the kids.
